He soon parlayed that into more literary acquisitions and doing so with such aplomb, he even gained election to Parliament.
However, a trail of deceit began soon thereafter, which led to a High Court censorship, then to possible war crime allegations and, ultimately, to an amazing web of falsified balance sheets and deceptive bank loan collateral which masked Maxwell’s mass looting of his own publishing empire’s coffers. When all was about to come crashing down upon him, Maxwell was reported to have fallen overboard while yachting along the Canary Islands. His extensive double-dealing earned him the posthumous title of The Bouncing Czech.
Maxwell’s bombastic ego, though, was authentic. He ached to be larger than life and to outdo any perceived rival, such as Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch, whose own publishing empire spans the globe. Ironically, Maxwell tried to seize any opportunity to portray Murdoch as a low-life, casting himself as a higher-minded alternative to the conscientious consumer. It was surely noble for Cap’n Bob — as Maxwell was derisively known — to be among the first to attempt an office-wide smoking ban. The Mirror’s headquarters was no doubt better served, but it was clear his motives were for self-promotion rather than a genuine concern for his employees’ welfare.
The first clue that this was the case was the boisterous manner by which Maxwell arbitrarily enforced the policy. Specifically, he loved to make a scene if it showed him in an authoritarian and positive light. Thus, when Cap’n Bob proclaimed a ban, he did it for maximum effect. In this instance, he decreed that anyone caught smoking in his building would be fired on the spot.
On this day, Maxwell was holding court for visitors of some dignified nature. He was guiding them through the Mirror facilities when a man hunched over a nearby photocopy machine caught his attention. The man had a cigarette dangling from his lips.
Cap’n Bob summoned his guests to follow him over there. Puffing his chest as he approached the man puffing away, Maxwell began his diatribe within steps of his quarry and gained decibels with each successive step.
“Sir!” he exclaimed, “How much do you make a month?”
The target of his wrath was caught off-guard. It took him a moment to confirm that Maxwell was speaking to him; actually, ‘at him’ would be more accurate.
“I asked you a question,” Maxwell pressed, making sure that his guests totally understood who was in charge of the moment, “And I expect a prompt answer. How much do you make a month!”
“2000 quid,” was the nervous response. “Why do you ask?”
“You’re smoking!” was the roared retort. Cap’n Bob then reached into his pocket in preparation for the coup de grace. He pulled out a wad of bills, quickly sifted through 2000 and jammed it into the surprised man’s shirt pocket.
“There’s a month’s wage! You’re fired! Now, get out!”
Maxwell then stormed away, his cotillion of impressed guests following dutifully behind. A strong boss had surely made a firm point.
Left in the wake, the stunned man retrieved the stash of cash from his pocket, looked at it and then shook his head in amazement.
“I was just called here to repair the copier,” he shrugged. He put the money in his pants pocket, flicked a few ashes to the ground, headed toward the front door and proceeded to his van. Perhaps he had more calls to make that day, but he probably opted to cancel them and make his way to a pub, instead.
The incident capsulized Cap’n Bob’s act in a nutshell. He was all show, with little attention to detail. It was a harbinger that whenever someone paid close heed to his affairs, he’d be sunk.

We have all seen beautiful photos where the object is perfectly focused while the background is blurred. Such a photo can be very dramatic and might seem to be hard to shoot. In this article we will give you a few tips on how to shoot blurry background photos that will impress your friends and family. You will also understand what Depth of Field is and how to control it.
Depth of field (also known as DOF for short) is the most important thing to understand before shooting a blurry background photo. Depth of field is defined as the range in which the photo is in focus. For example an infinite depth of field means that the photo will be in focus from a certain distance from the camera and up to infinity. When taking a blurry photo the goal is to set the depth of field just around the object. In this way the object is in focus while the background behind it is not.
How do you control the depth of field? After all there is no depth of field menu in the camera (wouldnt that be nice). Depth of field is an optical figure that is influenced by a few factors:
After understanding the theory it is best to go to the field an experiment. You will get a sense of how your photo will look like and how blurry the background will be after playing with different lenses, different apertures and different distances from your object. If you own zoom lenses start with taking photos of a relatively close object while using your zoom lenses. You will find out that it is extremely easy to get a blurry background photo using this method even without setting the aperture. Once you feel comfortable with that setup start changing the aperture and also change to your normal 18mm-55mm or similar lenses.
Most cameras allow to manually change the aperture by putting the camera in A mode while you are changing the aperture the camera will automatically set the shutter speed accordingly. Some cameras allow you to manually set both aperture and shutter speed.

Adrian Ling in his wonderful e-book, Spyware Secrets Exposed writes that Today, security professionals estimate that over 91% of all Internet connected PCs are infected with spyware!
This is just the tip of the iceberg for these black hat hackers and crackers, for they can place a piece of code onto you computer called a logic bomb enabling them to exploit your computer at a later date. This code will set off a malicious function at a specific time or when a specified condition is met. This method of hack is usually done to mask the location and the identity of the black hat hacker and the point of their attack by using your computer as the send off point for their cyber crimes. It makes it next to impossible to trace any malicious behavior back to the black hat hacker.
Another growing problem black hat hackers and crackers pose is to Internet marketers and affiliates. This problem is Website pay gate page, download page and affiliate link theft.
Website pay gate page, download page theft is where a black hat hacker creates a mirror pay gate page then reroutes from the website owners website pay gate a customers payment to theirs. Then the customer is sent to a mirrored download page, downloads the digital product. The black hat hacker does this by a process called Pharming.
In a recent article on a US Government info website an FBI warning stated. Pharming is setting up a fraudulent Web site that contains copies of pages from a legitimate Web site in order to capture confidential information from users. By hacking into DNS servers and changing IP addresses (see DNS hijacking), users are automatically redirected to the bogus site, at least for some period of time until the DNS records can be restored. Unsuspecting Internet users will type in a web address only to be redirected to a website that looks just like the real thing.
A black hat hacker can use this same process to steal you hard earned profits.
In affiliate link theft the black hat hacker hijacks the affiliates id number or name and replaces it with their own and the unsuspecting customer buys the product and the black hat hacker link thief gets the credit and the commission for the sale and nobody is the wiser although the black hat hacker is the richer.
There are a multitude companies dedicated to help you find the best possible way to protect yourself and fight back against black hat hackers and crackers and the spyware companies.
For anti virus protection and computer intrusion Norton antivirus and Norton security would be at the top of my list. The No.1 anti-spyware, anti-malware program that I have seen to date in my opinion would have to be a program from emsisoft called a-squared.
No matter what type of computer security you choose the fact is if you dont have it you will be invaded. Protect your self.
Basic Accounting/Bookkeeping
Aside from Internet security a basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping is the most important education you can have to succeed in any business. Knowing what you bring in and pay out and keeping track of it on a ledger is Basic Accounting/bookkeeping.
It doesnt matter if you are just starting or if you have been at it for may years, keeping a record of what you have coming in and what you are paying out are of grave importance.
Not only for Profit and loss determination but also it is imperative to have records when it come to tax time. Because Uncle Sam wants to know how much of your hard earned money he gets.
You could keep a small ledger or you can track everything on your computer using Microsoft Excel. Even better yet you could purchase an accounting/bookkeeping software package such as Quicken or Quick Books, Microsoft Money is also good.
If you dont have the time or if you just cant figure out the complicated programs you should hire an accounting/bookkeeping firm to keep track of everything, your budget permitting.
I do how ever recommend that when it does come to Tax Time no mater how you keep track of your books, you go out and have your taxes done by a professional Tax company or your accountant.
Business Success
Internet business success has no guarantee. For that matter there is no particular guarantee for life in general. Success is how ever what you make it.
There is one final form of business education that I have not covered. That is the school of Hard Knox.

Autism is considered to be the most severe childhood disorder. Medical scientists suspect that the poor social interaction skills characteristic to people with autism are determined by inappropriate communication between certain areas of the brain. After conducting various experiments, scientists revealed that unlike normal people, autistics have a very low brain activity when they are involved in social situations. A recent experiment has proved the theory that autistic peoples poor social interaction skills are generated by weak connections between brain areas.
The experiment brought together 16 people diagnosed with autism and 16 people who didnt suffer from the disorder. Scientists measured the brain activity levels and responsiveness of both normal and autistic people when they were shown a sequence of images. The subjects were asked to identify certain differences between a series of images that represented objects and human faces. Normal people revealed higher levels of brain activity when they were shown the images that represented human faces and lower levels of brain activity when they were shown representations of objects. By contrast, all autistic people who participated to the experiment revealed low levels of brain activity regardless of what the images represented.
The results of the experiment can be interpreted in many different ways. For many people, the experiment might suggest that there are abnormalities in some areas of the brain that prevent autistics from processing human features. However, medical scientists explain that autistic peoples actual problem is their inability to focus properly on human features rather than their inability to understand or recognize them. Scientists suggest that poor communication between some areas of the brain renders autistic people indifferent to others and hence, makes them socially inapt.
The experiment suggests a clear connection between brain dysfunctions and autistics poor social skills, revealing new interesting physiological characteristics of people with autism.
Its down to the last minute, crunch time. You procrastinated all week..no, all MONTH long and you still dont have anything for mothers day, fathers day or your Aunts birthday. What does the person like?

If they are of the materialistic type, good luck. Do NOT spend a ton of money on something until you think it through. Body skincare products, tennis bracelets, and necklaces go a long way to show that you put some thought into a gift.

One of the best ways to strengthen your answer to an RFP is to offer a clear, objective point of differentiation.
All clients are interested in how you will work with them. If you show them your client service extranet, they will not only see your commitment to client service, they will see precisely how you plan to organize their work. Put in their logo. Build folders structures that support precisely how you will organize everything for them. And tell them how much time they will save working with you, rather than with the other agencies mired in the stone age of email and FTP sites.
When you show them how easy the extranet makes finding all the work you have done, slip-in some of your best creative, even if they have stipulated that creative is not part of the response (after all, they have to look at something as they see how it works). Include a few comments date-stamped at odd hours seeing a response from the agency at 2am can say volumes.
Most importantly, not only will showing the prospective client your extranet help you stand out and win the account, it will yield rewards into the future. Because in the final analysis, the whole point of using a client service extranet is to keep the business.

3. By using free keyword tools find the best 2 or 3 keywords that people are likely to type in a search box when looking for a product you are offering, do not rush this stage, research it extensively.
4. Then to the difficult part, getting the right designer for the job, I have worked with good and bad, I would recommend Dan at http://www.clarity-media.co.uk the good thing about Dan is, his company will help and advise you every step of the way. There is more to an online business than simply a good idea and a good looking website,
5. Next is the world of SEO, Search Engine Optimisation. This is basically the art of getting your site as high up in the rankings on Google/yahoo etc as possible. There are many people willing to take your money with the promise of getting to the first page on a search engine, my advice DO NOT PAY for anything, simply get your designer to help you;
i. Design a corporate looking site, the correct use of colours/fonts and layout are crucial
ii. Have the text on the site enriched in keywords
iii. The meta tags/description etc are all set out properly, a good designer will do this.
iv. Having a good website is all about adding relevant on theme links and original content DAILY; this can be achieved by having, blogs, forums, resource sections and article sections. Check out my site at www.bizseller4u.com for an example.

The most encouraging characteristic of a habit pattern is that the repetitive activity can be interrupted when the min is turned to other interests. Autism is a baffling disease that affects 500,000 children in the United States alone. Strangely enough, the incidence of autism has skyrocketed since the 1980s when only 1 in 10,000 children were diagnosed with the disorder, compared to 1 in 175 today. Scientists have yet to discover for certain what causes the disease, although there are several theories being discussed. The most controversial theory contends that mercury present in childhood vaccines may be one of the leading factors contributing to the development of the condition.
It is known that people exposed to methyl mercury, which is found in thermometers and polluted environments, have incurred damage due to contact. A mercury spill in Japan, for example, tainted fish in the area and caused those who ate the poisoned fish to develop Minimata disease. Another clue pointing to the dangerous effects of mercury exposure comes from an incident that occurred 100 years ago in the United States. Pink Disease (Acrodynia) was a mysterious illness that seemed to appear out of nowhere. The symptoms included social withdrawal and a deficiency of language skills. At the time, a particular type of teething powder that contained mercury was on the market once it was taken off the market, this strange disease suddenly disappeared.
Those who believe in a link between mercury and autism cite the above as a few cases that may lend credence to the theory. Those studying the connection say that a combination of genetic susceptibility and exposure to mercury are most likely the two main factors that result in a child developing autistic disorder. For instance, it is not mercury exposure alone that causes problems, but rather, a minimum amount of exposure coupled with the childs decreased ability to excrete mercury properly.
Of course, this theory is a contentious one because childhood vaccines are being targeted as the main source of mercury exposure. A few years ago, most infant vaccines contained a preservative called thimerasol, which included ethyl mercury, although it is now being phased out of use. Although ethyl mercury is different than methyl mercury, in large amounts it can damage the nervous system. The hypothesis is, as children began receiving more and more vaccines over the years, they also received more mercury.
As with every controversial idea, not everyone agrees with this conjecture. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created two reports on the issue, both of which dismissed thimerasol as one of the causes of autism. And of course, many scientists and pediatricians are concerned fear will cause parents to avoid vaccinating their children.
In the end, no one really understands the root causes of autism, leaving many parents frustrated and without a valid explanation for the behavioral problems their autistic children experience every day. Hopefully, as more research is conducted, scientists will come closer to solving one of the worlds most puzzling medical mysteries.
The skin is the largest organ of the human body.
